Aliens and Cowboys cast wrap up Montana trip
Maybe you can blame our "fireworks" weather the past few days on the aliens.
Certainly we had the cowboys (and cowgirl) on hand as the lead cast and crew of the upcoming adventure movie "Cowboys and Aliens" spent the past few days on a press junket at the Paws up Ranch outside Missoula.
The film, which stars Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde, is set in 1870s Arizona and tells the story of a cowboy who awakes in the middle of the desert with no memory and a strange device strapped to his wrist. But the worst of it is when alien spaceships attack the frontier town.
The past few days, director Jon Favreau and some of the leading cast members have been in Montana promoting the film. According to Favreau's Twitter feed, Craig, Wilde and Ford were all on the trip. Sources told us on Facebook today the cast had been staying at Paws Up near Green Hough. Paws Up personnel couldn't confirm that for us when we called, but this evening the ranch sent out a farewell "tweet" to Favreau and Wilde saying "we miss you already."
Several pictures were posted online with Wilde astride a horse and an ATV. At one point Friday evening she tweeted "Did I mention I love Montana? I am bringing my ATV to the streets of LA" as a caption to this picture.
In addition to enjoying the Montana scenery, the principles in the movie gave select interviews to promote the film.
Favreau tweeted that Saturday was the "final day" of the junket and the next stop will be a promotional appearance in San Diego with the full cast.
The movie is based on a 2006 graphic novel and has been featured with an on going trailer playing regularly for the past six months. The film will open nationwide at the end of the month.
